{"id":37813,"date":"2017-09-15T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-09-14T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/prod01.tradonline.fr\/uncategorized\/waste-management-a-truely-international-issue\/"},"modified":"2023-12-27T15:56:19","modified_gmt":"2023-12-27T14:56:19","slug":"waste-management-a-truely-international-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tradonline.fr\/en\/blog\/waste-management-a-truely-international-issue\/","title":{"rendered":"Waste management: a truely international issue"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite a number of efforts made by the French communities regarding <strong>recycling, <\/strong>we must admit that we are still falling far behind some of our European neighbours.\u00a0 Specifically, I\u2019m referring to Germany, which recycles up to 64% of its waste, or Austria, which recycles 55% of it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Recycling <\/strong>has increasingly become a <strong>reflex<\/strong> for many private citizens as a result of <strong>increased sensitization <\/strong>across the national population in recent years.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But what about the management of hazardous waste by waste reprocessing companier?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Exportation of hazardous waste<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where the problem lies. Because, a large majority of our <strong>chemical waste<\/strong> is exported to emerging countries which, before the millenium, haven\u2019t had the necessary tools to protect themselves against the risks that an influx of waste creates in their territories. Specifically, they\u2019ve lacked the appropriate infrastructure for the storage of such waste, but also the tools necessary to measure the risks facing the local populations. Any <strong>chemical product<\/strong> could have large environmental and toxicological impacts.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A number of international agreements have been signed since the beginning of the millenium with the goal of evaluating and classifying or categorizing such risks. A truely <strong>cross-border chemical waste management<\/strong> exists in order to fairly share in the resolution of this international issue of hazardous waste management.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to the work of the OECD, the <strong>processing of hazardous waste<\/strong> has been delegated to international governance since 2017, for the sanitary and ecological conditions.
