Our clients often have little experience with or knowledge of our terminology management solutions, and yet they make all the difference when it comes to the continual improvement of translation quality.<\/strong><\/p>\n When we refer to terminology managent, we\u2019re referring to glossaries and translation memories first and foremost. In order to control the quality and consistency of content produced by our translators, we must begin by precisely defining the framework of the project with our client. The implementation of a glossary is an important part of defining that framework.<\/p>\n The glossare will include technical terms as well as acronyms specific to our client and their trade, as well as terms that appear regularly in their source content.<\/p>\n Thanks to our professional tools, we are able to conserve all content previously translated by our translators in a .tmx file, known as a translation memory.<\/p>\n The implementation of a term base, in itself, will above all have an impact on the quality of the delivered projects: specific vocabulary, consistency between various media.<\/p>\n The difference is above all in the manner that each is implemented. A term base is drafted by translation professionals on specific CAT tools and in collaboration with the client, and allows these terms to immediately and systematically be taken into account.<\/p>\n A glossary, on the other hand, is simply a list of terms, often drafted in excel and not connected directly with the content to be translated. A translator will not be able to automatically quality control their translation with a glossary, as this process by definition requires human intervention. That means there is a greater risk for error. Few clients continue to use Excel-based glossaries.<\/p>\n When you continually produce content, it becomes an absolute necessity to pass by a phase of reflection about term management.<\/p>\n Why? It\u2019s simple: when we must translate a large quantity of content every day, we cannot simply rely on a single translator, and when multiple translators intervene on the same project, it\u2019s crucial they share a common base. En effet, la base de termes est r\u00e9alis\u00e9e par des professionnels de la traduction, sur des outils sp\u00e9cifiques de TAO <\/a>et elle permet une prise en compte imm\u00e9diate et syst\u00e9matique des termes s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s en partenariat avec le client.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Le glossaire quant \u00e0 lui est une simple liste\r\nde mots, souvent r\u00e9dig\u00e9e sous Excel et non connect\u00e9e avec les supports \u00e0 traduire. Il n\u2019est pas\r\npossible de contr\u00f4ler automatiquement l\u2019application d\u2019un glossaire par un\r\ntraducteur, le contr\u00f4le est forc\u00e9ment humain. Le risque d\u2019erreur est donc plus important.\u00a0Rares sont nos clients qui\r\nutilisent encore des glossaires sous Excel.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n D\u00e8s lors que vous produisez des contenus en\r\ncontinu, la mise en place d\u2019une r\u00e9flexion sur la gestion terminologique du\r\nvocabulaire inclus dans vos contenus est obligatoire.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Pourquoi\u00a0?
